Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active nursing license required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BCLS) Must-Have: - Med/Surg experience - Telemetry - remote monitoring experience - Interpretation of dysrhythmias - IV insulin protocols experience - Colostomy care experience - Feeding tube care and management - Pre/Post Hemodialysis management experience - Blood product administration experience - Central line blood draw - Peripheral line care and management - Phlebotomy experience - PICC line management experience - Starting IVs experience - Use of PCA - Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac) - CPAP/BiPAP management - High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) use - Isolation precautions knowledge - Wound care experience Description: RTO after booking is not allowed. Call offs or additional RTO on the unit may result in a cancel or do not return. Traveler experience is accepted, including first-time travelers. Candidates must have minimum 2 years of experience. Target patient ratios are 1:5-6. Weekend requirements are 12-16 shifts per contract. The unit handles patient diagnoses such as dementia, diabetes, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fractures. Typical medical and surgical diagnoses are included. The unit also has an isolation area for patients with COVID-19. The documentation and communication systems used are Pyxis and Epic. Daily census in the unit is approximately 39 patients, with 43 available beds. Candidates must be available to float within or near the facility as needed. Floating may be required on the assigned shifts. All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to the start for this specialty.
